In 2004, our CEO/Founder helped pioneer the genre of Athlete Driven Media when he spent an entire winter in the European alps traveling with the US Ski Team, creating a weekly short form television series following ski racer Bode Miller through his historic World Cup Overall Championship season.
Originally having agreed to participate in just a single weekly interview, Bode ultimately invited Brett to travel with himself and the team in order to get more and better footage. The racer also asked him to help produce/co-host his Sirius XM radio show on a weekly basis while he racked up fourteen "Podium wins" during his breakthrough season.
This led to the name of Brett's first production company, Podium Pictures, in 2005.
In the years since, Podium has collaborated with a deep roster of athletes globally including Michael Phelps, Tom Brady, Steve Nash, and David Beckham, as well as legends such as Ernie Banks, Martina Navratilova, and Sandy Koufax.
Podium won an Emmy Award for its 2015 film "Welcome to Dodgertown, and has been nominated for a total of six Emmys. Client work has included projects for NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC, Red Bull, GMC, and Budweiser.
In 2014, he had the opportunity to document the entire "Draft Journey" of a small group of top NFL hopefuls including current stars Anthony Barr and Sammy Watkins, culminating with traveling with Watkins and his family straight from the NFL Draft to Buffalo for his introduction by the team.
In August 2016, Brett fulfilled a lifelong dream by directing Josh Duhamel (TRANSFORMERS, SAFE HAVEN) and Sterling K. Brown ("This is Us") in the feature film SPACEMAN, a biographical look at the legendary Boston Red Sox gonzo pitcher Bill “Spaceman” Lee. The film, which Brett also wrote and produced through Podium, was released internationally by Orion Pictures and Amazon.
